Grus pacifica

At the Hollywood Community Library, Harry Reese and Joel Sherman created the term “Grus pacifica” or “Crane of peace” to honor the world tradition of the folded paper cranes and to celebrate the extraordinary conservation efforts of the International Crane Foundation, Operation Migration, and the U. S. Wildlife Service (among many others) in saving the Whooping Cranes population and in serving as a model of reverence for life on this planet.
